RAMALLAH _ Palestine News Network

Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on Monday called on the European Union (EU) to support the Palestinian demand by setting up an international mechanism to nurture the peace process with Israel and recognize the Palestinian State.

This came at the first meeting of al-Hamdulillah in the West Bank city of Ramallah with the new European Union envoy for the Middle East peace process Susana Terstal.

According to a statement issued by his office, al-Hamallah Terstal was briefed on the "crimes of the Israeli occupation and settlers against the Palestinian people, their property and holy sites, the Israeli measures in the Red Khan and settlement expansion, as well as the crimes committed in the Gaza Strip."

He reiterated the commitment of the Palestinian leadership to the requirements of the peace process, the two-state solution on the basis of Palestinian national constants without derogation, and the establishment of an independent State on the borders of the fourth June of June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He called upon the international community once again to provide international protection to the Palestinian people and to take serious and effective steps, particularly by the European Union, to "Stop the crimes of occupation and its settlers, and to compel Israel to respect international and humanitarian law."
