Netanyahu: We are preparing for a large-scale operation in Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday his government was preparing for a massive military operation in the Gaza Strip.

During a visit to Ashkelon and a meeting with the head of the city's regional council, Netanyahu refused to make further statements. Stressing that his government is preparing for a large and important operation in Gaza away from any electoral considerations.

He pointed out that his government favors calm, but will not stop its readiness to launch any military operation in Gaza.

Netanyahu's remarks coincide with a meeting of heads of settlements in the Gaza envelope, with the Knesset Security and Foreign Affairs Committee.

The mayor of Sderot, Alon Davidi, said that a large-scale military operation along the lines of the "Adwan 2014" campaign must be launched to restore calm and restore deterrence. Pointing out that small operations for days do not achieve any results.

For his part, the head of the regional council of Hof Ashkelon, Itamar Revivo, complained about the government's failure to respond to basic requests related to the security of the population. Pointing out that a request to install cameras on the fence surrounding Kibbutz Netiv Ha'astra was rejected due to lack of funding.

The head of Sadot Negiv council said residents of the caste were afraid to go to psychological support centers for fear of being criticized by some residents. Pointing out that there is a great fear of the population because of escalation rounds, and there is no interest from the government to know how the population lives.
