Frederic de Klerk, the last white president of South Africa, dies

The last white South African president, Frederic de Klerk, who released anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela and shared the Nobel Peace Prize with him, died Thursday at the age of 85, his foundation announced.
"The FW Declairc Foundation announces with great sadness that the former president passed away peacefully at his home in Fresnay this morning (Thursday) after a battle with cancer," a statement said.
