Gaza’s only power station for the Strip stopped working today, Tuesday, after the quantities of fuel that were entering through the Kerem Shalom crossing were exhausted.
Mohamed Thabet, director of public relations at the Electricity Distribution Company, explained that the Energy Authority informed them to stop the station completely at 10:30 in the morning.
Thabet said in statements to Al-Aqsa Radio, that work will be done according to an emergency plan, so that residents will be provided with electricity from 3 to 4 hours every 12 or 16 hours.
He pointed out that by stopping the station from working, one of the main sources of electricity in Gaza will be lost, indicating that the deficit will reach more than 75%.
Since last Wednesday, the Israeli occupation forces have prevented fuel from entering the Gaza Strip, and it has partially closed the Kerem Shalom crossing and only allows the entry of some basic foodstuffs.
