The Spanish government has announced an additional contribution of 10 million euros to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
The Spanish Embassy, in a statement published by the Jordan news agency Petra, said Sunday evening that the contribution would be directed to funding the agency´s regular activities, which are aimed primarily at providing social support to Palestinian refugees, especially in the health and education sectors.
The contribution comes in response to the United States ´ decision to cut off aid from the agency, which has led to a worsening of the financial situation, she said.
This contribution is added to those that Spain routinely provides to UNRWA, which this year included the provision of half a million euros for agency activities in Jordan.
