Queen Elizabeth welcomes her 95th year without a celebration after the departure of her husband, Prince Philip

British royal sources said that Queen Elizabeth II will not hold a public celebration for her 95th birthday.

The sources told Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) that the Queen "has no plans" to celebrate this event today, Wednesday, which is her first birthday without her husband, Prince Philip, in 73 years.

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was buried on Saturday in a military-style funeral after his death on April 9 at the age of 99.

After announcing his death, Britain declared a week-long period of mourning that ended after his funeral on Saturday.

But the royal family is still in a two-week period of mourning that ends on April 23.
