On Friday, two "Médecins sans frontières " and "premiere Organes Internacional" expressed their "deep concern" for the situation of residents of the Gaza Strip, where vital services such as drinking water and health services are collapsing.

Marcus Tamares, an MSF official in charge of Palestine, warned in a press interview in Paris that there was a "danger of collapsing basic services" in Gaza, citing a "very disturbing" situation.

"In recent weeks we have seen an increase in the number of protesters (...) and we have reached the point where the economic conditions and the whole system are" in a deplorable condition for the population, "Tamares said.

The two organizations working in the field in Gaza, in particular, stressed that  "the health system is collapsing."

"In particular, there is a situation in which 50 percent of the medicines in Gaza have not been available since the beginning of the year, a constant shortage of electricity and the need to suspend some health services," Tamares said.

"96 percent of the water available is not suitable for human consumption," because the means of disinfection are not available, according to an official of the organization  "premiere Organans Internacional".

"The water systems were destroyed during the war in 2014 and have not been rebuilt because there are no raw materials or necessary funds," he added.

The UN envoy to the Middle East, Nikolai Mladenov, told the Security Council Thursday that Gaza was "in the process of collapsing," adding: "This is not a dramatizing, it is reality."
