Palestinian girl Shatha Al-Ali from West Bank waited for her fiancé, Abdul Hadi Al-Hamshari, 16, until she realized her dream of marrying him after he was released from Israeli jails.
Shatha was 17 years old when Al-Hamshari was arrested and spent those years in Israeli jails until he came out and dreamed of marriage this year.
"I was criticized because I was waiting for a young man sentenced to 16 years, but I told them I do not care how long the waiting period is, it´s important to get married," Shatha said in an interview with BBC Arabic.
"When the intifada began, I belonged to this organization and was persecuted from 2000 until I was arrested in 2003," he said.
"There was no contact or news, either through the lawyer or anyone else, and there was no other solution than the messages on the red road," Shatha said.
"Until the letter, I came to Abdel Hadi on behalf of his mother and not my name, because contact with him is forbidden only to parents and close relatives of the first degree, where the content of the message from me."
The relationship between Abdul Hadi and Shatha lasted 7 years via letters and gifts only. After their engagement in 2010, the occupation authorities permitted Shehhi to visit the fiancee for the first time.
