The Palestinian presidency said on Thursday that any international conferences on the Middle East will not succeed without ensuring the resolution of the Palestinian issue in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy.
Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina said in a statement that the Middle East issue is political and not security. The key to achieving security and stability is to resolve the Palestinian issue on the basis of international legitimacy resolutions and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
"Without a solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution and the resolutions of international legitimacy and the realization of the aspirations and aspirations of the Palestinian people for freedom and independence, all conferences and meetings will be doomed to failure and will only be a waste of time," he said.
"The continuation of such failed projects will only create a negative environment benefiting extremists and enemies of peace," Abu Rudeina said.
He stressed that "the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region passes through the Palestinian leadership represented by President Mahmoud Abbas, and that any solution in which Jerusalem is not the capital of a Palestinian state and does not achieve Palestinian constants will not succeed."
For his part, wrote the Minister of Civil Affairs in the Palestinian Authority, a member of the Central Committee of Fatah Hussein Sheikh on Twitter that "the central element of instability in the region is the Israeli occupation."
Sheikh said that "the Americans´ attempt to divert attention from this is like a temporary wave of warmth in a permanent ice frost, no security and no stability before the demise of the Israeli occupation and the illusion will collapse in front of the truth."
The Palestinian Authority refused to attend the American conference on the Middle East held yesterday in the Polish capital Warsaw with the participation of Israel and a number of Arab countries.
