JERUSALEM _ Palestine News Network

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that he did not intend to postpone the evacuation of al-Khan al-Ahmar, east of Jerusalem, until further notice, but only for a short period.

"The Red Khan will be evacuated, this is the decision of the Court and this is our policy and it will be implemented," Netanyahu said as part of his remarks at the beginning of his meeting with US Treasury secretary Steve Menchen.

"I don´t intend to postpone it until further notice, contrary to what was posted, but only for a short time."

The Israeli prime minister said that "the captain will determine the period of time during which the place can be evacuated with the consent of the residents, I will hold a session of the capent today and the time period until the evacuation will be short and I believe that it will be done with the consent of the population."

According to the website of the newspaper "Yediot Aharonot ", Netanyahu tried to control the reaction of his ministers following their angry reactions to what was talked about the postponement of the demolition until further notice, calling for a meeting of the mini-ministerial Council "cabenet " to discuss the issue.

"The Khan will be demolished because it is illegal and its demolition has been approved by the court," Education Minister Nafyti Bennett said before the cabnet meeting.

"In the state of law, it must be imposed even if the international community opposes it," he added.
