The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nikolai Miladinov, described the ongoing escalation on the Gaza Strip front as very dangerous.
"This is another attempt to undermine efforts to improve the harsh social and economic conditions in Gaza and prevent another devastating conflict," Miladinov said in a statement. He pointed out that he is making great efforts to calm the situation urgently.
He expressed concern about the current escalation, calling for a halt to what he said about the "indiscriminate firing of rockets and mortars against population centers."
"There can be no justification for any attacks against civilians."
