Palestinian Deputy Foreign Minister Mazen Shamia and Indonesian Ambassador Andy Rahmiyanto signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday, during which Indonesia will provide aid to the Palestinian people.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Ritno Marsoudi opened a training workshop in Amman on Thursday to train women in Palestinian refugee camps and train them for projects and production.
The three-day workshop aims to train 30 participants from the Hashemite Charitable Organization, UNRWA and Jordan in Palestine and several Palestinian organizations to train women in Palestinian refugee camps on how to plan and implement self-reliance projects and achieve sustainable development goals.
At the opening of the workshop, Rice stressed that the Palestinian issue remains at the heart of Indonesia´s foreign policy and will continue to coordinate with Jordan in supporting all efforts aimed at finding a solution to the Palestinian issue.
Through multilateral forums, Indonesia had consistently called for the need for economic assistance, development and capacity-building for Palestine, and for that reason Indonesia had long supported capacity-building programs for the Palestinians.
"The training of trainers program is a reflection of our continuous efforts in this regard, through the development of entrepreneurial and business skills that will empower the Palestinian people, especially Palestinian women, to be active contributors to nation-building," she added.
The Indonesian ambassador to Amman, Andy Rahmiyanto, said the training would once again demonstrate Indonesia´s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian issue. It is also an implementation of the three-year plan of activities adopted at the Third Conference of East Asian Cooperation for Palestinian Development in the Thai capital of Bangkok last year.
Assistant Foreign Minister Mazen Shamia expressed his appreciation for Indonesia´s support and Jordan´s cooperation in this regard to empower the Palestinian people and support the Palestinian cause.
