Members of the US House of Representatives called on President Joe Biden´s administration to cancel what is known as the "Deal of the Century" and to commit to a policy that "supports the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people."
In a letter to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, the signatories, who are 12 Democratic representatives, stressed: The need for the Biden administration to oppose all forms of Israeli annexation of the occupied Palestinian territories, and to cancel former President Donald Trump´s plan known as the "Deal of the Century", which gives the occupation an additional 30 percent of the Palestinian territories, according to their assertion.
The letter states that "settler colonialism in any form - including Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem and the West Bank - is illegal under international law and will not be tolerated."
The letter also called for an escalation of pressure on the occupation to provide vaccines for the new Corona virus to all Palestinians.
The letter was written by the Palestinian Representative, Rashida Tlaib (from Michigan) and Representative Mark Buchan (Democrat from Wisconsin).
Tlaib said in a tweet: "I am proud to join Representative Mark Buchan and 10 of my colleagues in calling on US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to engage with the Palestinians and Israel in accordance with international law and human rights standards and to cancel the damage caused by the Trump administration."
