Avigdor Lieberman, leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, said on Thursday that he would support an amnesty for Benjamin Netanyahu on corruption cases accused of him, in exchange for leaving political life.
Lieberman added in an interview with the live broadcast studio of the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, that there is a state of disgust at Netanyahu in the Knesset, and it has become a burden for everyone.
On the direction of a third election, Lieberman said that from the start he called on Likud and blue-white because they represent the greatest force for forming a unity government, not a narrow government. "It is about Israel´s security and economy, not on a personal whim," he added.
He accused the two parties of being responsible for deliberately dragging Israel into a third election. Noting that neither of them form a narrow government will not keep them alive and will quickly die.
For his part, Gideon Sa’ar, a Likud leader, warned that Israel will live the same fate after the third elections, in light of the current leadership’s presence. With reference to Netanyahu.
"If this trend continues, we will lose power," he said. Noting that there is a state of hatred flowing among politicians and the Israeli public in light of recent developments.
He pointed out that Netanyahu, in light of the corruption issues he faces, will not be able to form a unity government, indicating his ability (i.e. Sa´ir) to form the government and that he would have done this before the Knesset was dissolved if the primaries had taken place inside the Likud before its dissolution.
