Gaza: Israel allows fishing at a depth of 15 miles

The Israeli military authorities announced the re-expansion of the fishing area in the Gaza Strip sea to 15 nautical miles, starting this morning. After it had reduced it earlier due to security tensions.

The Palestinian Fishermen´s Syndicate confirmed this step, as fishing will begin in the area identified as of 8:00 am on Tuesday.

The Fishermen´s Union in Gaza explained that the fishermen were allowed again to sail to a distance of 15 nautical miles from the Gaza port to the southern border with Egypt, while the area from the Gaza port to the northern border would be allowed to 10 miles.

Israel had reduced its fishing area to 10 miles as part of the blockade of the Gaza Strip.
