Magdy Dahir, Director of Preventive Medicine at the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, said today, Saturday, that the epidemiological situation in the Gaza Strip is worrying after a slight increase in the rate of hospital admission for those infected with the Coronavirus.
In a press statement, Dahir stated that this comes as a result of the citizens´ failure to adhere to safety and preventive measures, which may be the cause of the Gaza Strip being exposed to a new wave of the epidemic.
With regard to the vaccine, Dahir explained that the total number of vaccines that arrived in the Gaza Strip amounted to 62,000 doses, while more than 5,700 people were vaccinated until last Thursday evening, while the number of registered on the Sehaty platform exceeded 22,000 people.
As for the target group of vaccination, the Director of Preventive Medicine stated that they are from the elderly, chronic patients, and medical staff, while work is being done to give the vaccine at the present time to priority groups, especially those over the age of 60.
