A telephone conversation took place today, Monday, between President Mahmoud Abbas and the President of the People´s Republic of China Xi Jinping.
President Abbas expressed his thanks and appreciation for all the political and economic support China offers to the Palestinian people to help them gain their freedom and independence, appreciating the recent medical assistance and experts China has provided to combat the Corona virus.
The president praised the success achieved by China in controlling this serious epidemic, and the progress on the path to reaching the necessary vaccine to get rid of it, stressing Palestine´s keenness to enhance the historical bilateral relations between the two countries in the interest of the two friendly peoples.
The President briefed his Chinese counterpart on the latest developments on the Palestinian issue, in addition to the efforts made politically and diplomatically to mobilize international support for the Palestinian position, aimed at preventing Israel from implementing the Arab and international rejected annexation scheme.
The president appreciated China´s stances in support of achieving peace on the basis of international legitimacy, and rejecting unilateral actions that are contrary to international legitimacy resolutions.
For his part, the Chinese president affirmed his country´s steadfast stance in support of the just Palestinian cause, adherence to the two-state solution and establishment of an independent and sovereign state of Palestine on the borders of the year 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He stressed that China rejects unilateral measures that will undermine the chances of achieving peace, especially as it contravenes international law and relevant Security Council resolutions.
The Chinese president added that his country supports the proposal made by President Abbas before the UN Security Council, on holding an international peace conference.
He stressed that China sees the importance of reviving the peace process in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution, and it is ready to play a constructive role and support the efforts of the international Quartet.
The Chinese President appreciated the Palestinian efforts to combat the Corona epidemic, stressing that his country has achieved important success in order to besiege the virus, and it is fully prepared to continue to provide the assistance and expertise required for the Palestinian side in the field of facing this epidemic.
The two Presidents agreed to continue contacts and coordination during the coming period.
