Bolton visits Israel on Sunday to discuss "regional security"

John Bolton, the national security adviser to President Donald Trump, will travel to Israel this week for regional security, as tensions between the United States and Iran escalate, the White House said Thursday.

Bolton will meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Israeli counterpart Mir Ben Shabat and Russian Nikolai Patrushev on Sunday, National Security Council spokesman Garrett Markis told AFP.

Bolton will also meet with the Director-General of the Israeli Atomic Energy Commission, Ziv Snir.

The announcement by the National Security Council came hours after Iran dropped a US aircraft in a move Washington considered an unjustified attack, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continued to escalate.
