The Israeli housing Ministry and the municipality of the settlement of Ma´aleh Adumim have signed a comprehensive development agreement to build thousands of settlement units in the coming years, Israel´s Hebrew newspaper.
According to the paper, the construction of 470 settlement units will be initiated with the approval of the political level, while the remaining units, which will reach about 20,000 units, will be built in future periods after being subject to government approval.
Housing Minister Yusaf Galant welcomed the signing of the comprehensive Agreement, which will lead to a significant increase in the population of Ma´aleh Adumim, as well as new housing units, which will be built in the city and include buildings, educational institutions, Jewish sweep, schools, kindergartens, public centers and halls Sports.
"We must continue to strengthen control over the Jerusalem area, from Ma´aleh Adumim in the east to Givat Zeev in the west, from Atrut in the north to the Bethlehem area and Rachel´s Tomb in the direction of Efrat and Gush Etzion, places of historical, strategic and national significance," he said.
