The Israeli ministerial Committee on Legislative Matters approved on Sunday the Law on the regulation and legalization of settlements and outposts in the West Bank.
According to the "Yediot Aharonot", the law is the second to regulate and legitimize settlements and outposts. The seventh Hebrew channel said a verbal altercation took place during the session between some ministers and the representative of the Israeli Government´s judicial advisor, who warned of the law.
The Act contains three elements: the establishment of a time frame for settlement of settlements, access to municipal services and the freezing of existing demolitions.
The law prohibits any ability to claim land ownership by Palestinians on the list of settlement sites contained in the law, obliges the government to provide services to these sites, and requires cabinet approval for any demolition of illegal construction there.
The Committee has done the right thing, and there is no reason why residents of the West Bank settlements should not be forced to live under the threat of permanent eviction, said the Minister of Justice, Ilit Shamsure. Hostess "We have moved from the letter of eviction to the letter of organization-attacks will not deter us."
The newspaper, "Yisrael Hume ", said the law would be passed after it was fully supported by the coalition. The legal advisor to the government, Avigdor Mandelpelat, will later announce his support.
According to the newspaper, Mandelpelat will announce the possibility of legitimizing 80 percent of the squatter settlements and outposts erected on private Palestinian lands.
Thus, more than 2,000 settlement units will be legalized in more than 66 settlements and settlement outposts.
Mandelpelat was opposed to the first law, which provides for the bleaching of settlements and refuses to represent Israel before international courts in case of litigation.
