70 Israeli violations against journalists in the last quarter of this year

 The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate revealed, on Sunday, dozens of violations committed by the Israeli occupation system against the Palestinian press situation in the fourth quarter of this year 2020.

A report issued by the Freedom Committee of the Syndicate stated that the Israeli occupation took advantage of the Corona pandemic to inflict damage on the press crews and individuals through targeting that reached the point of shooting directly at the bodies of journalists while they were covering the events.

The report indicated that the Freedoms Committee monitored 70 Israeli violations, as in July 27 violations were recorded, 20 violations were recorded in August, while September 23 violations were recorded.

The report indicated that 30 cases of detention of press crews were documented and prevented from working, while journalists continued to be targeted with gas and sound bombs, beaten and prevented from traveling, and media equipment and materials were confiscated, 10 cases of arrest, and many summoning and investigation cases.

With regard to violations of social networking sites, the report indicated a clear increase in the size of targeting, specifically from the "Facebook" website, which continues to target Palestinian content by closing hundreds of pages belonging to only journalists or press institutions, according to a clear agreement and complicity with the occupation system. Israeli.

The report stated that other digital platforms targeted Palestinian content, such as "YouTube, Instagram, and WhatsApp."
