The German ambassador to the United Nations, Christoph Hoessen, attacked US policies, particularly the administration of Donald Trump and its policies against the Palestinians, following the crime of the demolition of a large number of houses in East Jerusalem.
Heisigen, a former political adviser to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, accused the US administration of dealing in an inconsistent manner with international law and that it deals only with certain cases with the application of international law, such as North Korea, without other cases.
In a speech to the Security Council to discuss the issue of house demolitions in East Jerusalem, he stressed that his country believes in the United Nations, the Security Council and the international law force. He called on everyone, including the US administration, to comply with Resolution 2334, which defines settlements outside the Green Line, including East Jerusalem, as illegal settlements.
He pointed out that the US administration has not complied with this international resolution. And that his country considers these settlements illegal and detrimental to the chances of achieving peace on the basis of a two-state solution.
Christoph Hoessgen expressed Germany´s concern over the annexation of parts of the West Bank, saying his country would not recognize the change of the 1967 borders, including East Jerusalem.
