Witnesses indicated that several explosions were heard inside the bakery, while ambulance crews rushed to evacuate a large number of the wounded who were inside the bakery or while they were passing in front of it.

According to witnesses, a number of shops surrounding the laboratory were damaged, while civil defense crews managed to put out the fire.

The huge fire affected a number of educational centers and centers, including: Al-Banna Bakery, Al-Razi Wood Store, Abu Al-Sahel Aqel Restaurant, Aweidah Exchange Store, Hamada Restaurant, Al-Derawi Store for Vegetables, Fadi Clothes Store, Central Oxyzone for Sale, Deaf Center next to the clinic, as requested More than 10 separate stores, dozens of cars on the road, and a number of small stands.

For its part, the Ministry of Interior and National Security in Gaza said that since the tragic accident, large police and civil defense forces went to the area of ​​the event, and harnessed all their capabilities to control the fire, where they worked for several hours in extinguishing the fire extending to a number of shops and facilities. The fire occurred during rush hour and overcrowding, which caused a large number of casualties and injuries, according to the statement.

She pointed out that the competent authorities in the ministry are still conducting the necessary investigations into the causes of the accident, and through the initial investigation it was found that the fire was caused by a gas leak inside a bakery, which led to the burning of the fire in the place, followed by an explosion of a number of gas cylinders, and an extension of the fire to the facilities and shops. Paying money to Nusseirat victims

 

For its part, the governmental follow-up committee in the Gaza Strip affiliated with Hamas decided, on Thursday evening, to disburse $ 2000 to each victim family of the victims of the Nusseirat incident that led to the death of 9 citizens and injured about 60 as a result of an accidental explosion in a bakery in the camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Mohamed Awad, the head of the committee, stated in a statement distributed by the government media office, that $ 500 will be spent for each of the injured.

And that the ministries and government institutions will start the process of counting the damages caused by the accident, and that they have developed urgent plans to deal with the field.

He pointed out that from the first moment, the state of emergency was declared and a special committee was formed to follow up on the accident and take appropriate decisions.

The factions mourn the victims of the Nusseirat incident and call for the support of their families

 

On Thursday, Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip mourned the victims of the accident, which occurred in a bakery in Nuseirat camp.

The National Authority for Return Marches and facing the deal decided to cancel the march scheduled for Friday in the central area of ​​the sector, calling on citizens to support the people of Nusseirat camp and participate in the funerals of fire deaths.

Ahmed Helles, a member of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement and the Commissioner-General of the movement in the southern provinces, instructed all the movement´s sons working in various health sectors to take immediate action to support and assign hospitals to the Ministry of Health, in particular Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the middle to follow up the health of the wounded.

Hillis affirmed the standing of the Fatah movement and the Palestinian leadership to support the families of the victims and the injured, and to provide all that is required.

Hamas also mourned the victims, and wished recovery for the wounded. Stressing that it has put all its logistical and human capabilities in order to provide all forms of support and assistance to the families of the victims, and those affected by the tragic accident.

For its part, the Islamic Jihad movement said that its leadership is following the painful fire, and the responsible movements of the competent authorities despite the blockade it suffers from, and that it will remain in continuous follow-up with the competent authorities to quickly heal the wounds of the victims´ and injured families.

The movement called on citizens to the widest state of solidarity and stand with the bereaved and injured families and respond to national campaigns to address the effects of this painful fire.

While the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine offered condolences to the families of the victims, extending deep thanks to the civil defense, medical and police crews, cement pumping cars, water distribution, the resistance men and citizens for their efforts in extinguishing the fire and evacuating the injured, and preventing the fire from spreading to more homes of citizens, institutions and shops.

The Front called for solidarity and gathering around the families of the victims and the injured, and with the owners of houses, shops and cars affected by the fire, stressing the necessity of an urgent investigation to find out the causes of this great fire and prevent its recurrence, and take full safety measures, in order to avoid loss of life and property.

The Front called on all citizens, especially merchants, bakery owners, factories and petrol stations, to follow the highest levels of safety and adhere to the conditions of protection that must be met in these facilities provided for by law, including the removal of fuel tanks and any burning materials from the population areas.

The responsible authorities called for an urgent campaign to ensure that this accident does not recur, and legal prosecution of all violators and those not committed to the application of safety procedures.
