Doctors rule out Merkel´s serious health problem

Doctors have been keeping a lid on the condition of German Chancellor Angela Merkel after she was taken by a jolt when she met new Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zellinski in Berlin on Tuesday.

At the same time, many doctors ruled out a serious health problem for Merkel. The deputy director of emergency department at the Hamburg-Eppendorf University Hospital, Alexander Schultze, told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa on Wednesday that the possibility Merkel's tremors are fluid in her body. It is not strange, she said, adding that trembling in itself is not a medical concern, adding that the lack of fluids in this weather is normal.

The information that the Chancellor improved her condition after taking three glasses of water could have been a sign that she had suffered from a short-term problem in circulation, Schulste said.

While standing in front of the guard of honor next to the Ukrainian president, Merkel seemed to be shivering in her legs and body, but when she walked with Zilinski in front of the guard of honor, the tremor became apparent.

Merkel said at a news conference with Zielinski yesterday that she was currently dealing with three glasses of water, explaining that the reason for the tremor was apparently the lack of water in her body, adding that she is in good shape now as it is clear.

"Of course, I was surprised, but rather because of the firmness that Merkel has shown (despite the shudder)," said Jakob Berger, the general physician and head of the Bavarian Medical Association, "He said.

Merkel is scheduled to travel to the city of Goslar in Lower Saxony, Germany, where she is in talks with school students at the historical Kaiserfüllts Palace.

Merkel will tour the city with her former foreign minister and the city's honorary citizen, Ziegmar Gabriel.
