The United States of America has announced that a memorandum of understanding providing military assistance to the Israeli occupying Power of 38 billion dollars over the next 10 years has entered into force on Tuesday.

The US State Department said: Washington is committed to providing military assistance to Israel, according to the agreement reached under former US President Barack Obama in 2016.

The agreement provides financial assistance to Israel valued at $38 billion over 10 years.

The statement was made by US State Department spokeswoman Heather Naert, who praised the agreement to provide Israel with 38 billion dollars in financial aid over 10 years.

The current US president, Donald Trump, will continue to abide by the agreement and will continue to provide assistance to the Israeli occupying Power, Naert said.

According to the agreement in 2016, Washington will continue to provide the said financial amount to Israel, in order to strengthen the latter´s security and military capabilities, and to strengthen bilateral relations between Washington and Tel Aviv.

In 2016, former US President Barack Obama signed an agreement to grant Israel 38 billion dollars over the next 10 years.

Under the terms of the MOU, the United States will set up funding for Israel at 3.3 billion dollars in foreign military funding and $500 million for joint missile defense programs in each of the next 10 years, the US spokeswoman said.

"This is a significant increase that will enable Israel to obtain more advanced military capabilities from the United States, which over time will enhance Israel´s security and strengthen our bilateral relationship," she said.

"Our implementation of this historic memorandum of understanding reflects the commitment of the permanent President, this administration and the American people to Israel´s enduring security," Norert said.

The US administration has halted all of its assistance to the Palestinians, the latest of which was the suspension of support to the UN relief agency and the "UNRWA" refugees after they rejected the Trump department´s deal to liquidate the Palestinian issue.
