Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh on Thursday praised the visit of the Chinese medical experts team tasked with helping Palestine in the war against the new Corona virus (Covid 19).
Shtayyeh thanked the team and expressed appreciation for the visit, which he said represented a message of "medical and political solidarity".
"I am grateful that the team came at the right time," the prime minister said, adding that there is much for Palestine to learn from the Chinese experience in fighting the disease.
On the other hand, Guo Wei, director of the People´s Republic of China office in the State of Palestine, said that the importance of the visit lies in its timing, and will help support the capacity of the Palestinian health system before the possibility of a new wave of deadly disease, as the World Health Organization has warned.
"We will seize the opportunity for the two peoples to exchange rich experiences in disease control. I have a strong belief that through the coming days, there will be continuous and in-depth exchanges in the medical and health system to combat the disease," he said.
Today, meetings began at the headquarters of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah, between the Chinese experts team and the Ministry´s senior leadership headed by Minister of Health Mai Alkila.
Chinese experts are scheduled to hold a series of meetings and visits to quarantine and treatment centers in the West Bank for a week.
The Chinese delegation, which arrived on Wednesday to the West Bank, transferred medical supplies and assistance provided by the Chinese government to the Palestinian people to combat the Corona disease, in addition to providing necessary medical guidance and guidelines for developing preventive policies to combat infection transmission, especially in hospitals.
The aids include various kinds of medical masks and masks, protective medical clothing, virus scanners, and infrared thermometers.
