Prisoners Authority: great concern for the lives of the two striking prisoners, Awwada and Rayan

The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Prisoners Affairs confirmed in its report this Thursday morning that there are real fears for the lives of the two hunger strikers,   Khalil Awawdeh and Raed Rayan , who continue their hunger strike in rejection of the administrative detention policy issued against them.

The commission indicated that the occupation is holding the detainee, Awawda, inside the so-called “Ramle Prison” clinic in a very dangerous health condition, as he has lost a lot of weight, and suffers from apparent emaciation and difficulty in speaking. He also complains of severe pains throughout his body, vomiting continuously and moving in a wheelchair. Noting that he resumed his strike a few days ago, after he went on strike for 111 days, when a new administrative decision was issued against him for a period of 4 months.

It is noteworthy that the prisoner Awawda (40 years), from the town of Ethna / Hebron, is a former prisoner who spent 12 years inside the prisons of the occupation, including 5 years of administrative detention, and he is the father of four children.

The prisoner, Raed Rayan (28 years), from the town of Beit Doqqu, north of Jerusalem, continues his open hunger strike against his administrative detention. He is constantly suffering from joint pain and can only sleep for very short periods and feels that he wants to vomit all the time and moves in a wheelchair.

The Commission expressed its concern over the fate of the two striking prisoners, Awwada and Rayan, calling on international and humanitarian institutions, led by the International Committee of the Red Cross, to intervene immediately and urgently to find solutions that do justice to the hunger strikers and put an end to the Israeli incursion and brutality against all our prisoners.
