Palestinians condemn Israel´s violent escalation as UN General Assembly begins

 Palestinians condemned on Monday the continuing "violent escalation" by the Israeli army in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Jerusalem, as the 74th session of the UN General Assembly begins and the 42nd session of the UN Human Rights Council. To the United Nations in Geneva.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the serious and continuous Israeli escalation in Palestine "once again proves Israel´s rebellion" against all international laws and resolutions, and its flagrant disregard for the ability of the United Nations and its institutions and councils to curb its violations, crimes and grave breaches of international law.

The statement expressed "Palestinian resentment at the failure of the international community and its failure to implement the resolutions of international legitimacy, especially resolution 2334 on settlements, and in providing international protection for the Palestinian people and forcing Israel to end its occupation."

According to the statement, the escalation included the popular return marches in the Gaza Strip, the expansion of indiscriminate arrests and night arrests of many Palestinian-controlled areas in the West Bank, the dismemberment of cities, the deployment of roadblocks, and the leveling of agricultural land by settlers.

He warned, the statement of the continuation of "Israel in excavations near Bab al-Amud and the walls of the Old City, considering that the aim of changing the historical and legal reality existing there."

The statement called on the United Nations to break its silence and take the necessary deterrent measures to the occupation authorities to force them to abide by international law and international humanitarian law.

In the same context, condemned the member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization Chairman of the Department of Jerusalem Adnan Husseini, the storming of settlers in the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque east of Jerusalem, saying that the escalation calls for an exceptional position of the international community.

In a statement, Al-Husseini described the ongoing Al-Aqsa incursions as "criminal acts, sinful aggression and racist violations," warning of their repercussions on creating more violence and hatred and turning the conflict into a religious conflict to impose a Jewish plan to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Al-Husseini renewed his warning against "the explosion of the situation as a result of what is happening in Al-Aqsa Mosque and the disregard of the sanctity of the place, and encourage extremist Jewish organizations to storm and tamper with it and perform Talmudic rituals."

Husseini called on the international community to press the Israeli government to stop all forms of escalating violations against the city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Jerusalem is one of the final-status issues for negotiations between the Palestinians and Israel, stalled since 2014 after nine months of US-sponsored talks without progress to resolve the decades-old conflict.
