Israeli occupation has arrested 14 Palestinians on the Gaza border since the beginning of 2020

According to human rights sources, the Israeli occupation forces have arrested 14 Palestinians since the beginning of this year for attempting to cross the eastern and northern borders of the Gaza Strip.

Abdel Nasser Farouana, director of the Studies and Documentation Unit of the Prisoners´ Affairs Authority, said saturday that the israeli army had arrested 14 Palestinians since the beginning of the year after crossing the separation fence into the occupied territories in 1948.

Faruana said the occupying forces arrested two Palestinians on Friday evening, east of the central area of the Gaza Strip.

He pointed out that the occupying forces expose each detainee to "cross the border" for "torture, abuse and pressure".

"These attempts have increased in recent years and have become a serious and expanding phenomenon."
"Crossing the border requires stopping in front of it and examining its motives, and working to avoid its negative effects on the Palestinian individual and society," he said.

Last year, 84 Palestinians were arrested while crossing the eastern and northern borders of the Gaza Strip.

The israeli occupation arrests some 300 citizens of the Gaza Strip, most notably prisoner Zia al-Agha, who has been detained for more than 28 years, the oldest and considered the dean of Gaza prisoners.
