The Israel Land Authority announced, yesterday evening, Tuesday, the publication of bids for the construction of 2,600 new settlement units in 7 settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
According to the Hebrew Ynet website, 182 housing units will be within the scope of constructing new buildings, while the rest will be within the framework of expanding previous buildings to increase the number of settlement units.
Among the settlements in which Pisgat Ze´ev will be built, and Har Homa in Jerusalem, where auctions will be opened in the second half of next month.
The site indicates that there is an Israeli desire to take advantage of Donald Trump´s last days in the White House to quickly advance construction plans, so hundreds of settlement units were promoted in Gilo and Ramat Shlomo, areas in which Biden had opposed construction and failed a similar plan while he was in charge of managing Barack Obama in 2010, which sparked a political crisis between Washington and Tel Aviv.
Ir Amim, in response to the Israeli Land Authority tenders, said that before the end of the Trump period and the change of the US administration, Netanyahu is trying to impose more facts on the ground because he understands that US policy will change.
While the Land Authority responded that it has been working for months on preparing these bids as part of the work plan for the past year 2020, but it was postponed due to the Corona epidemic.
