The European Union has declared its refusal to intervene on the issue of national law as an internal Israeli affair.
The statement was made by European Union Foreign Office Secretary Federica Mogherini after meeting the Chairman of the Arab Joint List in Knesset Ayman Odeh in Brussels last night.
The Union, according to the Arabic-language channel of the Israeli-speaking site, said it respected the debate in Israel over the law.
Mugherini explained that the law of nationalism is the way in which Israel has chosen to determine itself, stating that the Union will nevertheless monitor the repercussions of its application.
The European position is disappointing, the Joint List said, noting that members of the party´s Foreign Relations Committee are visiting Brussels as part of their anti-law campaign.
