Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, criticized today, Wednesday, statements by US Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, "supporting settlement and occupation."
Erekat said: The statements of Pence and Pompeo "confirm their opposition to an international system based on the rule of international law, and their support for annexation, persecution, apartheid, settlement and occupation."
Erekat accused US officials of "fighting the values that affirm that peace means justice and equality."
Pence had said in a speech during the AIPAC conference, according to Israeli public radio, that "the president of the United States of America (Donald Trump) who is more pro-Israel should not be replaced by the president who is the most anti-Israel", referring to Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
As for Pompeo, he defended Israel when he tweeted, through his account of "tension", that he was angry at the report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for publishing a list of companies operating in the settlements, considering that he aims to isolate Israel.
