The United Nations calls for raising $ 348 million for the humanitarian response plan for the Palestinian territories

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs "OCHA", in partnership with the Palestinian government, launched today, Wednesday, the humanitarian response plan for the occupied Palestinian territories for the year 2020, with a total value of $ 348 million.

A statement issued by the Palestinian government stated that the plan announced in Ramallah aims to provide assistance to 1.5 million Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh, the director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Palestinian Territories, Sarah Moscroft, and the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator Jimmy McGoldrick participated in the announcement of the plan.

According to the statement, the plan includes 192 projects, to be implemented by 83 organizations, of which 122 projects will be implemented in partnership between local NGOs, the United Nations, or international NGOs.

Aid is focused on providing $ 214 million in food security, with the remainder distributed over health, protection, water, sanitation, education, and non-food items, coordination, support, and shelter.

It will allocate 77 percent of the total value of the Gaza Strip at $ 263 million, compared to $ 85 million for the West Bank, which will be distributed to support vulnerable families in Area C of the West Bank and Jerusalem, and the area under Israeli control in Hebron.
