The Sheikh Kamel tree is one of the landmarks of the town of Beit Dajan, east of Nablus, with its picturesque location overlooking the vast areas of the Jordan Valley, Nablus Mountains and Tubas.
The tree became a destination for visitors from the town and neighboring areas. It was located in a strategic area, overlooking large areas, showing the Salt Mountains on the ground.
Retired resident Radwan Abu Thabet says the Sheikh Kamel area has an old mosque and a huge carob tree, and its land is under threat of confiscation and its area is about 300 dunums.
He added that the occupation took control of the area of the mosque, and set up a training camp nearby, and provides protection to the settlers during their visits to the Judaization of the place.
Abu Thabit explained that the reason for naming the tree and the mosque by the Sheikh Kamel is due to one of the grandfathers of the town, whose name is the best known God full, while the Bedouins lived from Beersheba like Azazma surrounding the area.
The trees surrounding the Mount of Sheikh Kamel were burned because of the Israeli army´s bombs during the military maneuvers. The area was also completely closed during the first and second intifadas, following the closure of the city.
Historian Abdul Salam Awad, a researcher of history and heritage, says that the presence of perennial trees on the mountaintops is associated with the idea of shrines and shrines that are not necessarily built. It may be a tree, a stone chain or a stone.
He added that some of the shrines and shrines were a tree planted by me or a good man, or a guardian who lived and ate of its fruit, and thus became a haven for visitors to be blessed in it, either by vows or hanging a cloth on it to achieve security or dream.
