Do not mention the need of the 85-year-old Mezher, who was displaced with her family from the devastated village of Khaldeh in 1948 on a real wedding day since then, her life is filled with more injustice and oppression by the Israeli occupation as she says, and she adds that her memory, crowed with these successful events, can not You can restore them all, but they will try to list their most important stations.
She stated that in the aftermath of the Nakba, her family finally arrived at Dheisheh refugee camp and resided there, and in 1962 she married her cousin Hilmi Mezher, giving birth to three children: Khalid, Abdelhakim and Abdelhamid, and a daughter, Hoda, named after Gamal Abdel Nasser´s sons, and in late 1969, soldiers arrested The occupation of her husband on charges of belonging to a cell of the Fatah movement, after several months of detention he was deported to Jordan, and remained until the return of the vanguard of the Palestinian revolution following the signing of the Oslo Agreement, where he was among the returnees.
Talk about sons and husbands in exile
While in exile, there was a need for him to visit him from time to time, and in agreement with him, she preferred to remain with her children inside the occupied territory so that the occupation could not achieve his purpose behind the decisions to deport the Palestinian militants, where he also aimed to keep all his family members in a padded manner, Therefore, the need for the mother of Khalid in her home in Dheisheh camp, hoping to return to her village of origin in Khaldeh, and at the end of every visit to her husband in Jordan was arrested on the bridge, to be investigated about what she saw or what her husband carried from the letters and so on, and always met all these procedures silently and the Lord She was born during the presence of her husband in exile by two other sons, Thaer and Yasser, where the estranged husband preferred this time to call the first name that derives from the word "Revolution", and the second name after President Yasser Arafat before his martyrdom of course.
The suffering of the mother of Khalid did not stop at this time, but her five children were imprisoned successively at various intervals, including from an actual prison sentence, including those who were transferred to administrative detention, and continued to follow them from prison to prison, when the visit went to her husband in exile to tell him about the situation of his children and how the occupation punished them, But at the same time, she had the equanimity, patience and wisdom that could not be described, and she was able to educate her children and bring them into the marital nest despite the painful August, which according to many of the camp´s people was one of the most prominent women who supported the children of stones and activists when they were assaulted by Or arresting the soldiers, rushing to the street to confront the soldiers, and often the children of their fists, thus striking the proverb in the stubborn popular confrontation several decades ago.
The martyrdom of her two grandchildren in eight months
The tragedy of need did not stop at this limit of the pain tape, but went with the martyrdom of her grandson within about seven months, she was over half of the eighth decade, and the time line was on her face, and was fatigued by the disease, the first grandchild martyred from her son Thaer 15 years old with a bullet I Kotham the camp, on the 25th of July last year, and after about eight months, her second grandson Sajid from her 17-year-old son, Abdul Hakim, died of another bullet, and he was serving as a volunteer paramedic in medical relief on the 27th of March, to be The two events are the most painful event that they have gone through, but as you say you will not lose hope, and this injustice will have an end, and this is what I teach my grandchildren after me, and I explained to them about the Nakba and displacement and about the village of their fathers and grandparents who will return to it sooner or later, this occupation will not give us surrender, In the end, it is only right.
Khaldeh in memory
The need Um Khalid went to her village several times and stood at the house of her grandfather, who remained erect without the other houses, and opened her memory wide, and said that she recalls the famous battle that took place on the eve of the occupation of the town by the guerilla gangs on the sixth of April 1948, where a battle took place Bloody violent, in which the defenders of the village were killed, they were able to damage a tank to the forces of "Nahshon" and a number of them were murdered, and the tank remained in its place as a teacher of that battle, and wrote at the entrance to the place where the damaged tank remained the names of the Jewish dead in Hebrew English, as I touched on the only village mosque that the Israelis turned to a museum after being wiped out as a mosque, as well as the Israeli use of extensive land from the village for military purposes, where it is believed that there is a base of the Israeli engineering weapon.
One of her cousins, who visited the village with her, Ibrahim, said that it is bad way to have such an edifice in order to perpetuate the Jews who are being recruited. The Palestinian martyrs, the real landowners, are not mentioned.
Information, memories and design to return
Ibrahim said: All we have about the village are information and memories of our elders who have decreased dramatically over time after many of them moved to the mercy of Allah Almighty, but he had the effect of carrying a few of the stones of his father´s house, which he described as big, demolished the house in 2005, and carried stones with him to his house To the humble in Dheisheh camp, where he came with these stones in order to keep them, and to know his sons, where he listened to his son Tarek, 10 years old. Despite his young age, Tarek is in his mind a lot of information about the village, such as its population at the time of displacement, its population today, its location, and what it was famous for, in speaking to the correspondent of "Al-Quds" and in a firm and resolute Way, "It is my village, my grandfather lived there, I am sure it will come the day
Location of the village
The village was built on the hill of the summit, and it was honored on large areas of all sides. It was therefore called "the big Village" and was located near a public road connecting Gaza with the Ramle-Jerusalem Road, while a network of sub-roads reached ruins and in a few major public roads.
It is believed that its location is the same location as the Franks, called 1596, was a village in the Ramle District (Gaza Brigade), with a population of 66 inmates. Taxes were performed on a number of cereals, such as wheat and barley, as well as other elements of production such as goats and hives. In the late 19th century, Khaldeh was described as a village built with stones and mud, a hillside list, and a stone well in its west side. Their entire population was Muslim, with a mosque, and they were equipped water for domestic use from two wells north of the village, working in cattle-breeding and in rain-fed agriculture; they cultured cereals and small quantities of vegetables. In 1944/1945, a total of 8994 dunums were intended for cereals, 9 dunums of irrigated or used for orchards.
Occupation of the village
On 6 April 1948, at the beginning of the Nahshon operation, a battle of Haganah occupied Khaldeh and the nearby village of Deir Mahisen. Two weeks after his contract, he was settled on the ground in 20 April. The "History of Haganah" is only said to have been occupied "without fighting". Battles have been raging around the village in the following weeks, especially in the last week of May, as clashes over Latron spread to Khaldeh, turning to what the press described as the "greatest war ever known to date."
