The Palestinian issue will be at the top of the agenda of the upcoming Euro-Arab summit, said the EU spokesman in Palestine, Shadi Osman.
"The upcoming Arab-European summit is the first of its kind and is planned for a long time, and comes in the shadow of a difficult reality in the Middle East," Osman added, explaining that the goal of the Summit was to hold consultations among European and Arab countries and coordinate Between the two sides.
"This is the first time that there is a meeting between the European and Arab sides at the summit level, and this is a qualitative leap in this coordination between the two sides," he said.
Osman stressed that in the absence of the political process, Israel´s failure to abide by the principle of the two-state solution, and the existence of significant question marks on Israel´s commitment to the two-state solution, the European Union has pushed for a role in political science, to be acceptable to both sides, stressing that the Union is convinced that the mechanisms The old proved its failure and the need to find a new mechanism.
Osman said that the issue of recognition of the State of Palestine arises in all meetings between the Palestinian and European sides, and every European country is making its own political decision to recognize unilaterally, noting the willingness of the European Union to recognize the state of Palestine as soon as the legal and political conditions are met and recognition by Member States.
On what is being experienced by the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), Osman referred to the European role, which was coordinated with the Arab countries, to cover the shortfall that the agency experienced after Washington cut off its aid.
