Naomi Campbell and Demi Lovato join the campaign to support the opposition in Sudan

Social media users around the world are turning their personal photos into blue in solidarity with protesters who were shot and killed in Sudan this month.

Just as the "Charlie" in French gained worldwide appeal after the massacre of Charlie Hebdo magazine in France in 2015, the "Blue World" and "Blue for Sudan" titles have attracted celebrities.

British fashion model Naomi Campbell and American singer Demi Lovato have turned their personal pictures into "Ingestram", followed by millions, to blue, and Campbell has defamed violence in Sudan.

"What started as a peaceful protest has turned into hundreds of innocent lives, the situation in Sudan has gone beyond inhumanity," said the model.

The Sudanese crisis reached its peak after security forces opened fire on peaceful demonstrators last week. More than 100 people were killed and about 500 wounded during a major sit-in in Khartoum, according to the Central Sudan Doctors Committee associated with the protest movement.
