He also called on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the UN Secretary-General to "take responsibility for providing the necessary protection for the buildings of the Al-Aqsa Mosque through Palestinian institutions and to rescue them from attacks by Israeli settlers."
