Turkish Foreign Minister visits Al-Aqsa Mosque

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu visited today, Wednesday, the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, after he was a guest of the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem.

Wafa reported that Minister Oglu visited the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and toured its courtyards, accompanied by a delegation from the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem, without any Israeli accompaniment, despite the protests of the Naftali Bennett government.

The Turkish minister’s visit to Al-Aqsa Mosque comes in light of calls and threats to settlers to carry out massive incursions on the so-called “Unification Day of Jerusalem”, the day of the occupation of the city, and amid calls from Jerusalem for seclusion in the premises of Al-Aqsa Mosque starting next Friday, May 27, in response to the settlers’ calls .

The Turkish minister had ended his visit yesterday to Ramallah, during which he met with President Mahmoud Abbas and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Maliki, and chaired a meeting of the Turkish-Palestinian Joint Ministerial Committee.

During his visit, he stated that the events in Al-Aqsa Mosque hurt all Muslims, wishing God´s mercy for all the Palestinians who lost their lives following the Israeli incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque.
